Lab for AI, Ethics, and Creative Labor

Lab for AI, Ethics, and Creative Labor
Lab

The Lab for AI, Ethics, and Creative Labor investigates how artificial intelligence is transforming the conditions, practices, and politics of creative work across art, design, writing, and adjacent fields. The lab studies the ways AI systems restructure labor, reshape professional identities, and reconfigure relationships between authorship, skill, and value in creative industries, from independent practitioners to institutional workflows.

The lab advances this work through research, experimentation, and coalition building: partnering with creative communities and industry organizations to conduct studies on AI's social, cultural, and economic impact; developing experimental tools and methods that enable artists, designers, technologists, and scholars to critically engage with AI systems; and building coalitions to collectively shape emerging norms around labor, authorship, and the production of creative knowledge.
