Merit Scholarships
Upon admission to The New School you may be offered a scholarship through your academic department. Such scholarships are not offered through the Office of Financial Aid.
FAFSA and Student Aid Index
The U.S. Department of Education uses the income and asset information entered on a student’s FAFSA to calculate an Student Aid Index (SAI). The SAI helps The New School determine the amount and types of financial aid a student qualifies for. You can view your SAI and your submitted FAFSA at studentaid.gov.
Award Notification
Returning and continuing students can view their financial aid information through their MyNewSchool portal.
Newly admitted graduate students can view the types and amounts of your financial aid award online. Graduate students are eligible to take out federal direct unsubsidized and Graduate PLUS loans. Student loans are placed in the offered status. If you wish to borrow, please accept your loans.
Outstanding Requirements
Returning and continuing students can review any outstanding requirements they may have on their MyNewSchool portal.
Newly admitted students can view their outstanding documents or requirements here.
If you borrow a federal student loan, you must complete a Master Promissory Note and Loan Entrance Counseling at studentaid.gov.
Cost of Attendance and Budget
Use the estimated cost of attendance to create a
budget for yourself. Include all of your resources: job income,
parental support, financial aid, scholarships, and gifts. Determine how much you will need to contribute
toward your education for the first year.
