Previously matriculated students who fail to register for four semesters or more must apply for readmission if they wish to enroll again. Please contact the Office of Admission for application instructions. If readmitted, students must pay tuition or
a maintenance of status fees for the current semester. They must also pay university and school fees for the current semester. Readmitted students are not exempt from time-limit requirements (five years for the MS, ten years for the PhD). Deferrals are not offered to readmitted students. Readmitted students who do not enroll for their intended readmission semester must apply again.
Readmission applicants should submit a completed readmission application along with the following material:
- Recommendation: Master's and Certificate readmit applicants submit one recommendation; Two references are required for PhD readmitted students. The person writing the recommendation(s) should be a faculty member in your degree program or someone else qualified
to comment on the merits of your academic work and your qualifications for re-entering the program.
- Statement of Objectives: Applicants for readmission should follow the instructions above, and include a statement about why you left the school and your decision to re-apply.
- Transcripts: If you have enrolled at another college or university since you last attended The New School, you must complete a new student application. Please contact the Office of Admission for more information.
- MFA Creative Writing (only): Submit a recent or recently revised writing sample appropriate for the concentration to which you are seeking readmission.
Whenever possible, please send all official communication online, including transcripts and letters of recommendation.
