         Profile 
	Caron Levis (MFA; LMSW) is the author of several star reviewed and award winning picture books including the Feeling-Friends collection: Mighty Muddy Us, Feathers Together, This Way, Charlie, (Abrams) and Ida, Always (Atheneum)  which the New York Times Book Review calls, "an example of children's books at their best." Other titles include: Stop That Yawn! (Atheneum); Mama's Shoes (Abrams); May I Have A Word? (FSG).  Short stories and plays for teens and adults have won awards, been published in magazines, anthologies and the film adaptation of Attendant won Best Short in The Sunscreen Film Festival West. 
	Caron is an assistant professor and the chair of The Writing for Children/YA  track in the New School's Creative Writing MFA program, where as an alum she began developing her Act-Like-A-Writer technique. She has taught at NYU, presented workshops at various library association and writer conferences. She enjoys giving author visits to kids all over the country and conducting professional development workshops for adults in K-12 settings. As a social worker she has facilitated loss & bereavement groups for children and caregivers. She has a background in acting, meditation, one-to-one work, and over 25 years as an SEL arts educator in various settings. Caron uses a blend of drama and writing techniques to create a variety of interactive workshops for children and professional development for adults that use a playful approach to exploring practical skills.
