The New School is unable to accept transfer credits from study abroad programs that are not accredited. If a student is studying abroad at a program outside of The New School’s approved exchange programs or internal programs, this may require additional approval or verification of accreditation.
Students studying abroad at a New School-approved exchange program will receive official transcripts from the partner institution at no cost.
Students studying abroad at any non-approved New School exchange program are responsible for having their transcripts evaluated by a NACES provider or sent from a School of Record unless otherwise indicated by the New School Study Abroad Office or the Registrar's Office. Students are responsible for any associated costs for these services.
Students studying at non-approved New School exchange programs will also need to arrange for their official transcripts to be sent to the registrar by the end of the following term. If transcripts are not in by the deadline, they will be rejected.
- Continuing Students
Courses taken at other institutions while a student is enrolled at The New School will only be considered if all official transcripts are received and all transfer credit evaluations (TCEs) are completed by the end of the subsequent semester. (Note: Transcripts from study abroad in spring should be submitted by the end of the summer semester.) - Final Semester
For students who are completing their final semester/final requirements at another institution or are studying abroad in their final semester, the official transcript and the approved transfer credit evaluation (TCE) must be completed and submitted to the Registrar’s Office before the degree conferral date. All transfer credit evaluations received after the degree conferral date will delay the awarding of the degree to the next degree conferral date.
Please see more information regarding The New School’s transfer credit procedures on the Registrar’s website.
