  • When you apply to the Creative Writing Program at The New School, you take an important step toward making a serious commitment to your writing life. That’s why we look for students who come to us with a clear sense of purpose, a strong point of view, and readiness to join a diverse, creative community.

    Selecting the right program and learning about funding opportunities can be a challenging process. Our graduate admission team is available to assist you on this journey.

  • Apply to the Creative Writing Program online using our electronic form. You will also submit transcripts, writing samples, and other required information specific for your program.

  • The New School is committed to alleviating the cost of graduate education whenever possible. Students admitted to the MFA Creative Writing program are eligible for an array of funding opportunities including merit-based institutional scholarships that cover up to 75 percent of tuition cost.

  • We understand that pursuing graduate education involves a major financial investment. We are committed to working with you to make this journey possible.

To apply to any of our undergraduate programs (except the Bachelor's Program for Adults and Transfer Students and Parsons Associate of Applied Science programs) complete and submit the Common App online.

Undergraduate Adult Learners

To apply to any of our Bachelor's Program for Adults and Transfer Students and Parsons Associate of Applied Science programs, complete and submit the New School Online Application.

Graduates

To apply to any of our Master's, Doctoral, Professional Studies Diploma, and Graduate Certificate programs, complete and submit the New School Online Application.
